Bio
abrasions is a San Francisco east bay post-rock/darkwave project written and arranged solely by J Ericson.
Influenced by the likes of The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and Elliott Smith, J began writing music alone in 2006. After several independent ambient releases--including 2006's Shades of Summer, 2008's Nearly Lovers single--and three years crafting lush guitar orchestrations, found-sounds, and deeply personal lyrics documenting his dreary life experiences, J recorded his cathartic full-length album, Memorial. From the acoustic noise-pop of "Angel" and the shoegaze insights of "Dreamer" to the funeral, longing atmospheres of "All Ashes" and "Some Days", Memorial is a dark, emotional journey exploring themes of fear, loss, and acceptance over nine diverse tracks. The music video for "The Waiting Wall",a dark-ambient miasma at the album's heart, came a few months later, recorded and edited just as independently as the record it accompanied. J is currently playing live keyboards in the gothic rock band, Limnus, and is writing the next abrasions album. |
